SUPPORT
THE ISLE
OF SPRINGS
PIER

THE ISLAND
BEGINS AT
THE
PIER

It's your welcome to
the Isle of Springs

Island families and friends have used the pier to load, unload, dock, and launch since it was erected in 1934. It's the first place we see when we get to the Island, and the last place we wave to when we leave. If you've jumped off the dock at low tide, or if you've swung on the ropes, if you've docked a boat or alighted from the ferry, if you've taken a photo under the Isle of Springs sign or lifted a glass at a wharf party, you know what the pier means to the Island community.

The pier is the Island's hub and heart. We want it to be here to greet us all for another hundred years. We need your support.

The historic Isle of Springs pier is nearing the end of its ninety-year life. It's also threatened by rapidly rising sea levels. We need to raise funds to replace it. You can help.

Now you can give back.

A PIER FOR THE NEXT GENERATION

We've spent two years on due diligence

In 2021, the Isle of Springs board convened a pier task force to study the state of the pier. The reports from the task force concluded that the pier will need to be rebuilt in order to maintain safe use by the community as a dock, a gathering place, and a working space.

The State of Maine has urged waterfront communities to prepare for significant sea level rise over the next thirty years. The proposed replacement pier will be  higher and will also preseve the design of the current pier.

There is a great deal of background information about the findings of the pier project. For an overview, click the button below.

PIER COSTS

We estimate a cost of $1 million

The pier will cost about $1 million to rebuild -- more, if current rates of inflation keep up. We're asking everybody who has been part of the Isle of Springs community to give a little, or a lot if they can. What can we give you in return? The satisfaction of knowing you've helped a place you love...and the assurance that the pier will be here to greet you for many years to come.

There are many ways to give

THE PIER IN HISTORY

Steamboats, market boats,
water skis

The Isle of Springs pier played an integral part in the history and economics of Boothbay Harbor during the heyday of the steamboat era.
